Furthermore, green beans have been found to contain acephate, a banned pesticide, in both domestic and imported samples. Kale and mustard greens were also flagged for containing a mix of pesticides, including chlorpyrifos, a highly toxic organophosphate.
To avoid pesticide contamination, experts recommend choosing organic options whenever possible. Low-risk alternatives include sweet potatoes, snap peas, broccoli, and lettuce.
